Home Remedies to Treat and Prevent an Upset Stomach
In the research to find a treatment for an upset stomach, we have stumbled upon several home remedies to cure the ailment. There are several products that you will find on your kitchen shelf and in your refrigerator that can be used to aid an upset stomach.
Chamomile can be used in the cure of stomach pains caused by menstrual cramps or indigestion. This herb reduces muscle spasms and inflammation in the abdomen thereby reducing acidity. You can add the herb to a cup of tea and brew the concoction for about 20 minutes. This will help to let the juices blend with the tea leaves. You must drink the tea with honey and you will notice the stomach pains disappear within a few minutes.
Ginger is another herb that is effective in the cure of an upset stomach. It reduces inflammation and is similar to an anti inflammatory drug. Ginger contains chemicals that help to heal motion sickness, relax the intestinal tract, and relieve nausea and diarrhea. If you suffer from morning sickness then you must include ginger in your diet. You can also add a piece of ginger to your cup of tea and make a strong brew. This will ensure that the herb is effective. Pregnant women must not consume ginger in huge quantities though.
If the stomach ache leads to nausea then you must drink a blend of warm water with honey and lemon. This mix will help to relieve the nausea and helps to ease the stomach ache.
An upset stomach is cause due to several reasons and the diet that you consume is one of the main causes. In order to take care of this you must eat a balanced diet and avoid eating fast foods as far as possible. Eat small meals often and this will reduce the possibility of an upset stomach. You must also drink plenty of water and keep your body well hydrated. The water will ease any discomfort that your body may be in. Drink plenty of green tea and avoid caffeine drinks.
