Home Remedies to Help Prevent and Cure Asthma

Asthma is a respiratory disease that hampers proper breathing. This may be due to several reasons such as pet fur, perfume, extreme weather conditions like heat and cold, exercise, emotional stress or smoke. It normally causes wheezing heavily and in extreme conditions may lead to the person even loosing consciousness.

There are several prescription medicines available in the market for asthma; however they tend to cause dependence. A few home remedies mentioned below will help to prevent an attack in the future:

-Mash a ripe banana and add a few pepper corns to it. Eat the mashed fruit as it is still warm. This tends to clear excess mucus from the nasal passage and allows clear breathing.

-Eating roasted chickpeas every night followed by a glass of warm milk prevent attacks in the night and helps you sleep well.

-Mix a tea spoon of turmeric powder with honey and eat up. The turmeric clears your respiratory passage and honey soothes the mucus.

-Figs have proved to be very effective in the cure of asthma. They drain the phlegm from your throat. Soak a few figs in warm water in the night and have it along with your breakfast the next day.

-Lemon juice is good for asthma as well. Juice of a lemon with water and sugar has curative properties.

-A spoon of fresh ginger juice mixed with honey and water acts as a brilliant expectorant. This must be had every morning and evening.

-Garlic is an additional common ingredient that helps cure asthma. Garlic cloves boiled in milk reduce the risk of asthma attacks while steaming tea with garlic helps to keep trouble at bay. Do this twice a day.

In the cure or prevention of asthma, one must keep in mind that they must rule out the causes of the attack and ensure that maximum care is taken to avoid such situations.
