Ringworm is a skin condition that affects the hands, feet, groin and scalp. It is a fungal infection that forms circles or rings on the skin. There are several natural treatments to cure this condition and essential oils have proved to be the most effective treatment. Though there are several anti biotic medicines and topical treatments available people choose to use aromatherapy and other holistic treatments to treat the condition due to the effects of the treatment.
When the skin gets infected it becomes dry and scaly and you may notice flakes of skin peeling off. You must avoid pulling the skin or touching the area as you may spread the infection to other parts of the body. This infection may be passed on from house pets or through contact with an infected person; sharing clothes, towels and hygiene products increases your risk of getting infected.
Aromatherapy to treat Ringworm
Aromatherapy uses essential oils to treat the condition. These oils are extracted from herbs and flowers and are processed into aromatic oils that help to cure several ailments. Some of the most effective essential oils that help to cure ringworm are lemongrass, tea tree, lavender, patchouli and oregano.
Mix the essential oil with equal parts of jojoba oil or olive oil. Blend the oil well and then apply it on the infection directly. Do not massage the oil as you may spread the infection. Dab a cotton ball in the oil and then gently apply the oil on the infection.
You can also add the oil to your bath water and bathe in the oil. This helps to cure the infection as well as prevents it from spreading to other parts of the body. If the infection is in the scalp then you can massage the oils gently onto the scalp and let it stay overnight. You may wash your hair in the morning but avoid using shampoo. Washing your hair with water will suffice.
In order to ensure that the treatment is effective you must use oils in the purest form. Using oils that are not of superior quality may have a negative impact on your skin.
