One must remember that being overweight or under weight affects your self esteem. You always find yourself envious of icons you see in the tabloids and on television. You also are at risk of certain disorders due to your weight as well as in certain cases can be the butt of nasty jokes. While there are several ways to maintain or reduce or gain weight, one must look at the health benefits of going on a certain type of a diet.
If you are overweight, then you are at risk of heart diseases. Obesity also is related to slowing you down in your work as you tend to feel fatigue quicker. Obese people are known to have fewer social connections as well. They have poor social skills due to constantly being conscious of the weight.
Under weight people on the other hand have the same issues. Society is quick to tag them as those having eating disorders though that is not the case.
Maintaining your weight by either gaining or shedding pounds will have good effects on your health. It wards of heart related risks, makes you quicker and lighter on your feet and helps to increase your productivity. Since you are energetic it allows you to engage in more social activities like sports and other outdoor activities. If you shed pounds then you reduce the occurrence of joint pain; especially leg pains as there is lesser weight that you exert on those muscles. Since you get rid of the constant fatigue that slows you down you have the energy to engage in new activities like going to the gym or walking in the park.
The key to losing or gaining weight is to set your goals that are attainable. Do not expect to lose or gain weight fast. A few pounds every week is recommended as losing or gaining weight quickly can have adverse effects on your internal organs like your stomach, kidneys, liver and your heart.
