For a male it is odd to actually set aside time to take care of their skin. The daily shave itself becomes very tiresome and most men try to avoid it if they can get away with it. It is however very important for a man to take care of his skin just as a woman takes care of hers. It begs to be taken care of properly. There are a few simple tips that men should follow especially if they are beginners at skin care. First of all identify your skin type. Your skin type could be anywhere from oily, dry, mature, combination, sensitive or acne prone. Once you know your skin type get a cleanser that is specific for your skin type. If you are unsure about your skin type then you could visit a dermatologist and have your skin examined. One thing that should be kept in mind while shopping for skin care products is that there are many brands of skin care products available some of which are specific for men.

Getting back to shaving, you should shave while in the shower and preferably while having a warm shower. This helps soften facial hair making it easier to shave. You could also use your cleanser as an alternative to shaving cream if you like.

Once you have cleansed your skin you need to use a toner. This helps refresh the skin and further cleanse it. A good toner would help restore the ph level of the skin naturally. It should be applied after cleansing or shaving and should be left on to dry. When you wake up; use a moisturizer. This process should be repeated twice a day preferably in the morning and at bedtime. Lastly you need to exfoliate twice a week and this can be done with the help of a mask or a face pack.
