Most of us who wish to lose weight make great resolutions only to be broken as fast as we decided to make them. However if one follows certain strategies one may be able to keep up to ones resolution to lose weight. In fact they may motivate one to keep up to the resolutions to lose weight.

The first strategy is to never be off food or starve oneself to lose weight. It is best to eat small and frequent meals and make sure to eat foods that have a low glycemic index. This would help one to have a steady flow of energy and delay hunger pangs. It is also necessary that one makes small resolutions at a time and then slowly makes another resolution once a person has got habituated with the first resolution. Like one could first make a resolution to do exercises regularly. Once doing exercises becomes a daily habit one could make a resolution to make life style changes or eat fruits and vegetables to help one lose weight.

Rest is as important as exercise to keep up ones resolution to lose weight. One should take rest at regular intervals to improve growth of muscles and also to be able to resume ones exercise thereafter. It is also necessary that one makes sure to drink enough water and other tit-bits that help one to re-exert oneself. It is to be understood that physical and mental exercise may prove difficult at first and one may even want to give up ones resolution to lose weight.

However, as time passes it will help one to keep up difficult resolutions like giving up smoking, drinking, eating healthy and nutritious food. It may also help one to give up impulsive actions that may break ones resolution to lose weight.

To keep up ones resolution to lose weight one should accept the fact first that our resolve to lose weight is influenced by factors like moods, stress and low blood sugar. So it is not proper to think that one is weak in the mind if one is not able to keep up to that resolution.  One should only work on improving ones moods by yoga and deep breathing exercises before one sets out on ones resolve again.

Lastly it is better to plan ones meals ahead so as to be able to keep up to ones resolution to lose weight. It is always better to keep ready a half-prepared meal of cooked spinach, cut vegetables and fruits or something healthy and nutritious to eat. This helps one to fight the temptation of eating an ice cream or some high calorie dessert lying in the fridge. To stick to your resolution to lose weight make it a point to make your shopping list and shop only when you are in a positive state of mind. This helps one to fight temptations of fried snacks, aerated drinks, cookies and instead buy healthy foods like fresh fruits, vegetables, multi-cereal products that help one to keep up to ones resolution to lose weight and remain healthy.

All these strategies would help one to eat healthy and smart and keep up to ones resolution to lose weight.
