Stress, during any stage in life is no good for health, but when pregnant, it affects two people, you and your baby.

Having a baby is a major life changing experience for anyone. Finances need to be sorted out, work timings after delivery need to be managed, arrangements need to be made around the house for the safety of the baby and if you are a single parent then the pressure increases even more.

It is natural instinct to think and plan for the future, but remember, when pregnant your body is constantly going through change that is challenging to cope with, if you keep thinking and worrying, you only make it more difficult for yourself.

Try writing down your thoughts and discuss these with your partner, a friend or someone from your family who can help you and work towards finding solutions.

Keep yourself busy during the day, this way you are never idle for too long and will be pre-occupied with other things.

It is very common to read books on pregnancy and child birth, but avoid over doing it. Too much knowledge can be bad. Too many books may mean too many tips, some which may not even apply to you. Ask your doctor for advice, he /she will know your complete history and will advice you accordingly.

Unless, advised by the doctor, do not keep sitting or lying down for too long. Take short walks around the house. If alone, listen to peppy music that helps you unwind. Try and walk at least once in a day with your partner, this helps trigger positive emotions.

Check with your doctor and try doing simple yoga exercises. There are a few yoga poses which are meant to be done when pregnant.

Do not watch movies or other programs on television that can depress you or get you worked up. Stick to light hearted movies that can make you laugh.

You need to realize that from conception, your baby is totally dependant you and taking care of your health should be the on the top of your priority list. Don’t think too much about the future and ruin the present. Enjoy your pregnancy and stay happy during the entire period.
