In our fast paced lives we eat plenty of fast foods. These foods are low on nutrition and high in acids and fats that are detrimental to our health. This leads to acid reflux, tooth decay and in severe cases arthritis. Once you realize how these foods have a negative impact on your life it is only safe to say that you must avoid these foods. In order to do this you must first research the kinds of foods that you eat to understand how they impact your life and work your way to avoiding those that are harmful.
Start with a food journal. This should note the foods that you eat daily; including the number of glasses of water that you drink. You must also note any changes in your bowel movements or reactions to the foods that you eat. Once you analyze the impact that these foods have on your body you will be able to cut out the foods that have a negative impact.
Water needs to be the main form of hydration in your diet. Avoid juices, beverages, fizzy drinks and alcohol as far as possible. If you want to get rid of acids in your diet then water is the best way to do so when liquids are concerned as it is neutral.
What foods to avoid
Start with tea, coffee and any other beverages that contain caffeine. These cause dehydration and cause the stomach to expand. Greasy, fried fatty foods are next on the list to exit. These foods do not digest well and hence they must be avoided. They cause irritation to the heart and increase the amount of stomach gases. Avoid eating chocolate in huge amounts; they contain caffeine and are not vey good for your system. You also need to limit your intake of citrus fruits; this does not mean that you cut them from your diet completely. Avoid them on days when you feel bloated or gassy else you can eat them in moderation. If you must eat tomatoes and citrus fruits in huge quantities then they are best eaten in the raw form.
