Having high levels of acidity makes you uneasy and restricts your movements. It can be annoying and embarrassing; it helps to take precautions to avoid the condition. Precaution is better than cure and in this case both are possible.

For starters you can begin with eating your meals slowly and chewing your food well. The slower you eat the lesser air you consume and this helps to reduce your bouts of acidity.

You must watch what you eat. If you are going to eat gas producing food you can expect only the inevitable. Onions, cabbage, bean sprouts, chick peas and wheat have huge gas producing ability and hence avoiding them is not a bad choice.

If you are lactose intolerant then dairy products like milk, yogurt, buttermilk, cheese and clarified butter can produce gas as well.

You must keep a journal to help you to figure out what are the foods that make you gaseous. Every person has a different tolerance level and hence you are the best person to decide what are the foods tat you need to eliminate.

Drink plenty of water to help to get rod of the gas in your stomach. Add a spoon of honey and a few drops of lemon to warm water for some relief. Drinking water with Epsom’s salt also gives instant relief.

If you feel particularly gaseous then you must avoid eating meats and fatty foods. These add to your acidity. If you do consume them then eat smaller portions.

Reduce the amount of sugar you consume. Natural sugar is less harmful and is absorbed by your body and eliminated faster than artificial sugar. When the sugar is not absorbed by your body it gets converted to gas.

Eat a fiber rich diet but you must do so gradually as a sudden surge in the amount of fiber in your body can causes gas formation.
