How to Choose the Right Foods to Keep You Healthy

Green foods are always healthy. Fresh green vegetables and fruits are the best food option for a healthy mind and body. There are several kinds of fruits and vegetables available so getting a healthy serving of them is easy. You must try to prepare them in different variations and eat the ones that you prefer. Hot or cold servings of food are always good. You must eat 5 to 7 servings of fruits and vegetables daily in order to maintain your health.

Doctors claim that we are beginning to contract chronic illnesses these days due to the fact that we are eating too many processed foods. We must make sure that we reduce the amount of processed foods we eat and get accustomed to eating fresh foods as they do not have chemicals and preservatives added to them. You also have the option of trying organic food as it is free of preservatives and chemicals and are the healthiest options.

Most foods can be eaten raw and they retain most of the enzymes when consumed this way. Thus it is best to eat your food raw as often as possible. When you cook the food it looses most of its vitamins and minerals and thus the nutritional value of the food is lost. You also loose the natural enzymes in the food; hence it is best if you eat your food uncooked. Make sure that you wash them well though in order to get rid of insecticides and pesticides in them. Do not eat canned foods as the added preservatives reduce the natural nutrients in the food.

Your local market is one of the best places that you can go to and indulge in the best varieties of food. It is an interesting place and you will find the freshest foods on the planet right around the corner. Not only do you save a lot of money by shopping locally; you will also help yourself to healthy servings of food that will make you fell and look great.
