Your pores look enlarged when you do not care for them well. Dirt, cosmetics and pollution along with the natural oils from your skin clog your pores and make them look bigger than they are. Enlarged pores are more prone to acne, zits, pimples, whiteheads and blackheads and so one must be very careful to make sure that they take care of their skin.

Besides a good cleansing routine, you must also block clogged pores so that you can avoid skin problems later on.

To close open pores you must use an astringent or a toner on your skin after you have washed your face. When you wash your face, the pores are cleaned from within and hence you must block all open pores immediately. If an alcohol based toner causes irritation, then you can use rose water to close your open pores.

At night you must rub lemon juice all over your face to block open pores. This reduces the oily secretion from your skin during the night. It also automatically closes open pores and reduces the size of the pores.

Another simple technique involves rubbing a slice of potato on your skin after you wash your face at night. Soak the potato in water for about an hour before that. Wash your face with the excess water from the potato and then rub the potato along with the skin all over your face. Since potato is a natural bleach it will lighten your skin; at the same time it soaks in the excess oil and dirt from your pores and unclogs them and helps to close them.

Cucumber juice helps as well. Blend cucumber to make a juice. Add a pinch of salt. You must drink half of the juice and add the rest to your face. The juice when consumed helps to cleanse your skin internally and the juice used to wash you face helps to clean and block open pores.
