
Nighttime binges are common. Binging at night leads to weight issues and it is also poses as a threat to reducing weight. Eating at night leads to high blood pressure, high cholesterol and several other heart related diseases. It is a habit that is bad for your health and care must be taken to avoid eating at night and to get rid of the habit.
If you eat well during the day you will reduce the chances of binging at night. Space out meals at 3 to 4 hour intervals and keep meals proportionate. Eating smaller meals helps to digest food faster and reduces the risk of weight gain.
You must drink plenty of water when you stay awake at night. This helps you to feel full minus the calories. You can drink fruit juices at night; though your first preference must always be water.
Keep junk food out of the house. If you have fast foods and junk food in your cupboards you will have a tendency to glance through the cupboards and indulge in the foods. Stock the refrigerator and cupboards with healthy and nutritious foods. Avoid eating foods that are high in sugar or sodium; especially at night.
Keep a log of the foods that you eat. This helps you to keep a track of the number of calories that you have eaten during the day and the amount of food you have eaten. The log helps you to track the unhealthy foods and avoid them in the future. It also helps to keep these foods off the grocery list in the future.
Keep yourself busy by either reading or taking up another hobby that keeps you busy before bedtime. This will help you to stop binging before bedtime. A good way to ensure that you rest well though the night and avoid binging is to exercise before you go to bed.
After dinner and before you go to bed; go for a walk or try jogging or some form of exercise. When you return home you will have enough energy to have a bath and go to bed. This helps to keep you healthy and also helps to avoid the binging. Exercising before bedtime helps you to have undisturbed sleep.
