Most of us suffer with whiteheads and blackheads on our skin; unfortunately the most popular region for the infection is the face. Though white heads are a lesser nuisance compared to blackheads they still cause some degree of irritation and damage the surface of the skin. It is important to get rid of the whiteheads on the surface of the skin and most people opt to scratch the surface of the skin or pinch the skin in order to get rid of them.

Though this is effective in the short term it damages your skin in the long run. If you suffer from whiteheads and are desperately seeking ways to get rid of them then I suggest that you read what I have to say.

Before you start your treatment to get rid of the whiteheads you must wash your face thoroughly. This helps to get rid of the oil on the surface of the skin. Now the next step is to open your pores in order to get rid of the excess oil that is trapped within your pores as it is this oil that forms the whiteheads. To get rid of the oils from deep within you need to use steam therapy. You could either use a hot towel on your face or use a hot water steamer to blow steam directly on your face.

Once the pores are open the excess oils can be wiped off from the skin with ease. Now with the help of a sterile needle extract the whiteheads from the skin. Once you have removed all the whiteheads wipe your face with a clean towel. Ensure that your hands are clean throughout the entire process and that you wash the towels immediately after you are done. After all the whiteheads are removed from your skin use a non alcoholic toner on your skin to close the pores. You may feel a slight stinging sensation but it will not last for long.

Using an exfoliating scrub also helps to keep the whiteheads at bay. There are plenty of over the counter scrubs that you can purchase or make one at home with grated almonds and the cream from fresh milk. Use a scrub twice a week in order to reduce the amount of whiteheads on your skin.

Keep in mind that there are several creams, lotions and cosmetics that can aggravate this condition. You must be aware of the fact that all cosmetics have a shelf life and you need to get rid of them past their expiry date. Also do not try on more than one new cosmetic at a time; this helps to identify the products that are causing harm to your skin.

One of the best natural products to use is tea tree oil. You may use it directly on your skin or use any products that have the oil as their base. It is an effective remedy for whiteheads.
