How to Ensure that You and Your Child Eat More Vegetables

Vegetables do a lot for your health. They help to improve the quality of your blood and improve your eye sight. The issue is that getting yourself and your children to eat these nutritious things can be quiet a task. The trick here is to introduce smaller portions of them in your food preparations.

While preparing lentils you can add a few green leafy veggies into the preparation. They add to the taste as well as the nutritional value of the food. It is an interesting yet simple way to get the vegetables down. You will eat them effortlessly and you won’t hear too many complaints either.

Green leafy veggie soups are delicious. With the right spices and herbs that make an interesting meal. Simply blend the leafy vegetables. Then sauté onions and garlic and add the pureed vegetables to the pan. Stir for a few minutes. Add a few spices like cardamom, cinnamon and salt and pepper to taste. Add a glass of water and boil the mixture. You have a healthy meal in a few minutes. The kids will love this preparation as a snack, especially during winter.

Blanched peas can be added to soups, salads, pastas and rice preparations.

Vegetables can be added to your chicken and fish preparations as well. Roast or grilled chicken and fish can be served with as salad consisting of tomatoes, cucumber, onions, celery, capsicum, carrots with an olive oil dressing.

If your children are extremely fussy about vegetables then make a fun preparation like a vegetable casserole. Bake it will lads of cheese and you will have them begging for more. The same can be done with pizzas. Simply load the pizzas with vegetables and lay low on the chicken and fish toppings and you will have them eating their due amount of green vegetables.

One must remember that you get minerals like calcium, potassium, magnesium and fiber from your vegetables. These are essential nutrients and minerals that help in bone formation and prevention of disease.
