With the holiday season upon us our schedules are busy; this leaves us with very little time to rest or recuperate from the activities. Instead of enjoying the season you will notice yourself feeling tired, stress and exhausted. This is not what the season demands; as a matter of fact you must be well rested so that you can enjoy the beauty of the season.

There are several easy ways of relaxing even if you have a busy schedule. You must take a few minutes to relax in order to get energized for the next round of activities.

If you begin to feel exhausted then a few minutes of karmic yoga will energize you. You can take off your shoes and sit on a chair and relax. Try and find a quiet place but if that is not available then sit in a place that is away from the activities. Close your eyes for a few minutes and focus on your breathing.

As you inhale focus on the length of your breath and hold it for a few seconds then exhale slowly. Do this 10 to 15 times. Then as you inhale count to 16 hold your breathe to the count of 32 and then exhale slowly to the count of 16. This is the focused breathing techniques and it helps to relax the mind and body. Once you stop breathing in this manner open your eyes. You will feel refreshed and energized. When you breathe in this way your muscles relax and your body receives a surge of oxygen; thus your body feels energized.

You must remember that no matter how busy you may be it is important that you get adequate sleep at night. It is the only time that your body gets to relax and rejuvenate your internal organs and hence it is imperative that you relax for 5 to 6 hours at night. Inadequate sleep will result in an increase in blood pressure and an increase in the risk of heart disorders.
