How to Fight a Menopause Belly
August 20, 2009
When you are approaching menopause or are already going through the changes you need to be very patient. You may not be pleased with the way your body shape changes; however you must keep in mind that there will be time to get into shape once all the changes take place and your body adjusts to them. Once you are in your 40’s your body will begin to gain more weight than it would when you were younger. You wonder then how all your favorite stars are in such perfect shape. The answer to that is very simple.
They watch their meal sizes, pay keen attention to what they eat and exercise to keep fit. You can do the same with the help of a few guidelines and you will be well on your way to a prefect figure even after your menopause.
You need to check your composition and manage your weight once you are 40. This means that you also pay attention to your blood pressure and your cholesterol. These factors affect the amount of weight you gain during menopause. To begin the process you need to keep a food journal; this helps you to keep track of the food that you eat daily and gives you an idea of the number of calories that you consume. Remember that your body needs 1200 to 1400 calories in order to function well; eating anything lesser than that is detrimental to your health.
You must start the day with a healthy breakfast. This helps you to kick start the day. The other meals of the day must be spread over a 4 hour time gap. End the day with a light dinner that is rich in protein and fiber but low on carbohydrates. Eating smaller meals will help to improve digestion and reduces the risk of rapid weight gain.
After you enter your 40’s you must be very careful about the amount of alcohol you consume. This is the lead cause of a flabby stomach. Limiting your intake to twice a week will help to reduce the effect it has on your body. Remember, alcohol is high in calories with zero nutrition.
You must start a regular exercise routine. Cardio workouts and aerobics will help to maintain your weight. Swimming helps to tone your muscles while cycling is an intense exercise that will help to reduce weight. Lifting weights will also help to tone your upper body and stomach crunches will help to get rid of all the excess flab. An easy way to exercise constantly is to hold your stomach muscles tight all day long. This is a natural way of tightening the muscles in the region.
