Internet has definitely made our life easier, isn’t it? Now we have access to almost everything with just a click of mouse. With the advent of social networking sites such as Orkut and Facebook, the meaning of interaction with friends and relatives has changed completely.

We don’t have to travel to meet out dear ones; we can chat with them or can even talk to them with almost real time experience, thanks to web cams and internet calling facilities. We are very busy in our respective lives and in the course the chances of physical interaction is getting reduced considerably. But this situation is alarming. Everything good thing has certain negative aspects. Let’s find out how internet related health issues are cropping up rapidly.

Level of Oxytocin
Oxytocin is a type of chemical that our body produces at the time of bonding with another person. This is important to maintain the level of oxytocin to stay healthy. Usage of internet has reduced chances of person to person interaction and that makes one even more remote. According to several renowned biologists, lack of physical interaction has resulted in massive fall of oxytocin level. This means regular bonding with others have been seriously affected, which is not good for body.

Other Problems
The world of internet is ‘Virtual’ and maximum exposure to this virtual-world can lead to serious health hazards such as dementia, cancer, strokes, depression and heart disease. Spending long time surfing internet can also effect the normal regulation of our immune system and hormone levels. Lack of regular human contact is providing severe negative effects on our body. As more and more people prefer to work or communicate from home using internet, chances of these health problems are increasing immensely.

Thus, people shall begin to conduct more physical interaction rather than depending on internet. The situation is even more alarming as the kids, even less than five years of age, are regular internet users. Parents must take proper care of their children so that they do not make over-use of the boon called internet and make it a curse. We must remember that internet is the future; we must stay healthy to enjoy its future benefits.
