Though it is not a sickness or ailment it leads to the deterioration of your physical and mental well being. Consuming large amounts of alcohol leads to liver and kidney disorders. It also hampers ones ability to make decisions. If you suffer from alcohol addiction then you need to seek counseling. In addition to this therapy you can also avail of home remedies that will help you to control this disorder.

The first thing you need to do is to make dietary changes so that you are able to control your craving for alcohol. Start with a cleansing for your body so that all the toxins from your body are eliminated. A fruit juice diet for a day or two will be beneficial to you. The juices will give your body the nutrients that it requires while getting rid of all toxins and harmful chemicals from your body.

After you have completed this diet you need to eat wholesome foods; those that will provide your body with the vitamins and minerals that it requires. Eating protein rich foods like eggs and chicken and other lean meats as well as eating foods that are rich in fiber will help to keep your energy levels high. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and also eat whole grains, sprouts, lentils and seeds.

Home remedies to stop drinking Alcohol:

If the addiction has lead to a disorder of the liver or the kidneys then you must drink a glass of bitter gourd daily. This juice helps to eliminate the toxins from the body and also keeps the system clear of any cravings for alcoholic beverages. The juice is extremely bitter so you may dilute it with a glass of buttermilk in order to reduce the bitter taste.

Celery juice is also an effective cure for alcoholism. Mix a few spoons of celery juice with water or lime juice and drink it in order to prevent cravings for alcohol. Continue on this remedy for a month or as long as it takes for your body to adjust to life without alcohol.

Biting on apples during the day reduces the body’s cravings for wines and other intoxicants.
