Home Remedies for Calloused Feet

Though we spend time and money on beautifying our skin we rarely think about focusing on our feet. Our feet take the load of our body weight the entire day and added to that if you are a woman you put your feet through agony by getting into high heels for extended periods of time. This leads to the feet getting tired and calluses forming on the feet. Dead, dry and calloused feet are not only unhealthy they are also an eye sore that will cause a lot of pain and will lead to bleeding if not cared for immediately.

Most people complain about calluses during winter; however if you have dry skin or if you do not get regular pedicures then you may suffer from calluses throughout the year. If you are already suffering with calluses then it would take a few sessions and applications to help you to get rid of them.

The common areas on the feet that will suffer are the heels, the toes and the areas in between the toes. In order to get rid of this condition you first need to work on getting rid of the dead skin cells on your feet. To do this you must soak your feet in warm water daily and use a pumice stone or a washcloth. If you are using a pumice stone then rub the feet gently or you will damage your skin.

Rubbing coconut oil or olive oil on your feet daily is a good way to keep the skin on your feet well moisturized and free from dry skin and calluses. Do this at night and wear socks immediately after massaging your feet so that the skin or your feet can absorb all the moisture.

Vaseline is also an effective cure when it comes to being able to get rid of calluses and moisturizing your feet. In addition to these treatments you must keep your feet well protected. When you are using open toed shoes make sure that you moisturize your feet well before you wear your shoes. As often as possible you must use socks or hosiery to lock in moisture in your feet.

Calluses form on the feet when you do not get rid of dead skin and hence it is very important that you exfoliate the skin on your feet often. You need to keep in mind that one or two treatments are not going to keep your feet free of calluses; you will need to continue with your treatments on a daily or weekly basis.
