How to Get Over Feelings of Worthlessness and Boredom

Some of us may be stuck in a dead end job or a job that we do not enjoy at all. Besides some of us may be going through the stresses and tensions of losing a job or feeling worthless with nothing to do at all. However one need not feel that way at all. Those stuck in jobs that they no longer enjoy doing can try to get a job of their liking.  They may continue to do the job till they are able to find another better job that he/she really likes. Even the jobless can find fruitful things to do and can do a lot to change their attitude in life to feel worthwhile and banish the Satan worthlessness that occupies his mind.

A person who is bored with his present job and resorts to day dreaming can substitute this attitude by taking up creative hobbies that could occupy his mind in the evening and on weekends. He can pack his evenings with stimulating exciting activities. Besides building good friendships where there is joy, laughter with creative activities can help a person feel he is not worthless but a person who is a significant part of society. Keeping oneself busy is very important. Adopting a pet, looking after it and building a fruitful relationship with it can give the person a purpose in life to live.

A person who is depressed because he/she is jobless need not feel that way at all. The way to get over these feelings lies in substituting negative thoughts with fruitful positive thoughts. If one thinks one is worthless, one can look for reasons why one is not worthless. It may happen that he/she finds things that one has excelled in and what one can do to feel more worthwhile in life. Positive thinking is the stepping stone to positive action.

Exercise can make one feel energetic, remove feeling of worthlessness and boredom and help one feel mentally great of them. Exercise boosts the hormones that create good feelings and boosts up one’s self esteem and confidence. Exercise also promotes physical well being and promotes mental health too. In addition one can prepare a list of activities one proposes to do during the day and start accomplishing the tasks one by one. When one accomplishes even a few of those tasks one feels worthwhile and is also able to get over boredom.

To conclude a medical professional help may be needed in extreme cases only. However it is in one’s own hands mainly how one gets over the feelings of worthlessness and boredom.
