How To Get Relief From Arthritis

April 23, 2009

If you have pain in your joints and give up using it just after some time because of pain you are suffering from arthritis and need to do something to get relief.

But this achy joints need not put an end to your active life style. it could take many forms as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and affect people who are generally above 30, but it is more common among people more than 45 years of age, with women getting it more than men.

Osteoarthritis is generally noted above the age of 45, which is a degenerative disease and people who have less calcium resources in the bones get it more easily. Rheumatoid arthritis is not a deterioration of the joint tissue but is more related to immunity of the system.

It is good to take calcium substitutes in the form of pills once you reach 45 years of age. Our bones deteriorate once women reach menopause and men also grow old. The bones tend to be more brittle and also could lead to osteoarthritis.

Warm water, helps to give relief to pain of stiff joints or arthritis. Experience the luxury of getting relief from arthritis by having a 10 minute shower in warm to hot shower and just feel your affected muscles become more supple. Follow this up with limbering stretches or doing some simple and mild exercises. Heat would have relaxed your muscles and soothed them and your joints will move better after the warm and soothing feeling.

However, do not follow this tip if you have rheumatoid arthritis because heat could worsen such an attack and make them swollen.

Doing of regular aerobic exercises helps to imporve blood circulation and circulation of fluids around the joints. But make it a low impact one with flexibility exercises like walking and swimming in a heated pool, to increase the mobility of the joints.Your muscles and tendons around it will be stimulated and that could help you to get relief from the pain you are experiencing. About 20 minutes of walk or swim in a heated pool or 30 minutes low impact exercises could help. However never do these exercises if your joints are swoolen, red or hot.

Arthritis relief can be done by doing lifting of weights and resistance training. It would help movement and improve functioning of the muscles for daily activities. To conclude, strong muscles help protect the joints from wear and tear. It is wise however to consult your physician before enmarking on any sort of exercise or low intensity training program.
