How to Get Rid of a Beer Belly

April 30, 2009

A beer a day can be extremely refreshing but within a month you will notice a big bulge where your stomach once used to be. A layer of fat collects around your abdominal muscles and causes it to swell looking like a tiny air pillow under your shirt. Luckily for you there are a few things that you can do to fight this off.

The first wise thing you can do to reduce this belly is to stop having the beer. Adding insult to injury will not help at this stage. Give up the beer and you will see an instant reduction of fat accumulation.

The next thing you need to do is to start working out to reduce your abdominal muscles and avoid gaining any more fat. Start with a brisk walk for 30 minutes daily, followed by a cardio workout for a few minutes and finish off with stomach crunches and stomach exercises for 20 minutes. The crunches will help to get your stomach back to its original form; though it does nothing to burn the fats so walking and cardio is a must. Start using the stairs instead of the elevator, especially when you need to climb up. Use the hula hop, this instantly helps to tone your abdominal muscles and helps to firm them up.

Dinner must be eaten a few hours before bed and bedtime snacks must be avoided at all costs.

Improve your eating habits and avoid eating too many fats. The fats that you eat must be as per your body’s nutritional requirement only. Avoid eating deep fried foods like chips, fries, chicken and fish. The same food in baked, grilled and boiled versions is equally healthy.

Drink plenty of water. This helps to keep your body well hydrated and flushes out toxins. It also helps to keep you away from sodas and colas that add unwanted pounds to your body.
