I have suffered with boils on my eyelids several times. The boil on your eyelid is known as a stye and it is caused due to strain on your eye. Reading in a dimly lit room or strain on your eye due to change in altitude can lead to a stye forming in your eye.
A stye can also be formed when dirt gets trapped in your eyes. A woman is more prone to getting a stye because of the use of cosmetics. A stye can be painful and can lead to irritation and itching as well as watery and mucus discharge from your eyes.
There are several over the counter creams that you can use topically on the stye but my favorite remedies are those that you can prepare in your kitchen. Yes, you guessed right, home remedies are extremely effective and they are the safest form of treatment as they have zero risk of side effects.
One of the easiest and safest ways to get rid of the stye is to use chamomile tea bags on the affected area. Boil water for a few minutes in order to kill all the bacteria from the water. Now dip a chamomile tea bag in the water for 10 to 15 minutes and then let all the water seep out of the bag.
Once the excess water drips out of the bag place it on the affected eye and rest for 20 minutes. You will need to repeat this for a few days till the stye dries off completely. You could also use green tea or any other caffeine based tea that also has antioxidants.
Before you touch your eyes you must make sure that you wash your hands in order to keep them clean and prevent further infection in your eyes. You can also get relief from the pain by using a warm wash cloth on the infected eye. Simply dip a wash cloth in hot water and rinse the excess water out of it. Then place the towel on your eyes. The heat from the towel will give you relief from the pain while reducing the swelling caused by the stye.
You will be extremely tempted to squeeze the stye in order to get rid of this but you must avoid this completely. When you squeeze it out you risk spreading the infection and this can damage your vision.
