Salty food increase your requirement for water in order to stay hydrated and while drinking water is not bad drinking too much water will help you to maintain your hydration levels.
Skipping meals is not going to help and hence you must avoid doing so. When you skip a meal your stomach demands food and this leads to you binging on snacks and unhealthy foods which add pounds and layers to your abs.
You last important task is to start out a regular exercise regime. A few cardio workouts throughout the day will help you to get the ball rolling.
Cardio workouts 3 to 4 times a week for approximately 30 to 45 minutes will help you to reduce the fatty cells on your stomach. Walking, running, cycling, jogging are good ways to get the exercise you need.
