Baking soda is an effective agent that helps to whiten and brighten the tooth enamel. Start with brushing your teeth with regular toothpaste and then rinse your mouth clean. The next thing that you need to do is to dip your toothbrush in baking soda and then brush your teeth with it.

You must use the up and down movements and don’t forget to brush the insides of the teeth too. Doing this 2 to 3 times a week will ensure that your teeth are whiter and brighter.

You can also use hydrogen peroxide to clean your teeth, whiten them and get rid of all the discoloration. Mix hydrogen peroxide with water and rinse your mouth thoroughly. This will not only clean your teeth it will also remove any germs and bacteria in your mouth and heal and cuts and wounds in the mouth. This can be used as a treatment for mouth ulcers as well.

Another simple way to get rid of stains in the teeth is to rub lemon on the surface of the tooth. The acid in the lemon helps to remove the stains and returns the original color of the tooth. Simply rub the juice of the lemon on your teeth and leave it for a few minutes and then rinse it with warm water. You may choose to add salt in the warm water; but that’s optional.

Some of the ways to prevent staining and discoloration is to avoid foods that have color pigments in them. Caffeine also impacts the tooth enamel adversely and hence you must avoid its consumption. You must also brush your teeth every time you eat a meal in order to prevent the food form causing stains on your tooth enamel.
