Presentable feet are those that are devoid of scales, dry and cracked heals and skin and clean nails. A simple pedicure either at the parlor or at home can get you into this position. However, you must ensure your safety when you go in for a pedicure.
Make sure that you have a professional dealing with you, even if it is just for your feet. Decline a trainee touching your feet. You are safer in the hands of a professional or someone you are comfortable with.
If you are getting a pedicure at home then you need to soak your feet in a tub of warm water for 15 minutes. Use peppermint foot soaks in the water to help to make your skin moist and soft in order to be able to continue to the next steps; exfoliating your skin to eliminate the dead skin and calluses.
When you are scrubbing the calluses off your feet, make sure that the foot scrub is clean and the tub that you are soaking in is clean as well.
Avoid cutting your nails too short from the inside rims. This helps to prevent ingrown nails.
While filling your nails, stroke in one direction rather than going back and forth as this causes friction and can lead to the nail chipping or even worse breaking off.
Avoid using metal instruments on your feet, especially those used to clip extra cuticles or push them back.
In order to make your pedicure last longer you must use a top coat on every 4 to 5 days to prevent your nails from chipping. Wash your feet regularly and scrub of the calluses every alternate day when you are having a bath. Use a small amount of cuticle cream on your nails daily after your bath. Doing this will help you to have your feet in mint condition for at least 3 weeks after the pedicure. I recommend taking your own set of instruments with you on your next visit to the pedicurist to avoid spread of germs and infection.
