Hives, one of the severe kind of allergic symptoms can cause respiratory or circulatory problems also.  Certain drugs, insect bites or allergic reaction to certain foods generally causes these allergic reactions. These allergic symptoms can show up as swelling in the lips and eyes. In addition a person having allergic symptoms could experience difficulty in breathing and also suffer shocks. In still others it could cause mental confusion, drop in the blood pressure, dizziness, abdominal cramps, nausea, and vomiting  and diarrhea.

Any person who is susceptible to allergic symptoms should always keep the medications he uses handy. He should also keep a card handy in his/her pocket or purse. This card should contain details of things he is allergic to and the medications that could help when allergic symptoms occur. This information could prove handy to help the person in case he develops allergic symptoms.

If one notice allergic symptoms it is best to attend to the person immediately. One should first look into the card the person carries on his/herself. Then he should decide the action to be taken. First the person should be made to lie down on his back and his feet should be kept elevated above the height of the heart. This would help to stop the allergy going to the heart and causing adverse reactions.

The next course of action is to loosen the clothes of the person experiencing allergic reactions. Then he should be covered with a blanket. When a person has allergic symptoms he should not be given anything to drink. If he/she is vomiting or bleeding from the mouth he should be made to lie on his side. This would help avoid choking.

In case of severe allergic symptoms like difficulty of  breathing, coughing and lack of body movements he should be given cardiopulmonary resuscitation to revive his breath and body movements. If one fails in all these attempts to help a person experiencing allergic reactions, he should be rushed to a hospital for further and better care.

Anyone taking all these steps to help a person with allergic symptoms will have definitely played his part to lessen the agony of allergic reactions.
