
Puffy eyes make you look unhealthy and tired. The skin around your eyes is thin and thus they tend to look tired with the slightest change in your diet or sleep patterns.
Allergies, dieting and crying also add to the puffiness around your eyes. When your eyes are puffy they are retaining water in the area and this must be dealt with immediately.
There are several natural remedies and home treatments that you can use in order to get rid of the puffiness in the eyes. Splashing cold water on your face helps to reduce the puffiness in the eyes. If you wake up and notice your eyes puffy then splashing cold water or rubbing ice cubes around your eyes will help to reduce the puffiness in the region.
If this does not help then place 2 spoons in the freezer and place these spoons on your eyes for a few minutes. Keep the chilled spoons on your eyes for a few minutes while you rest. This will reduce the puffiness drastically. If crying has caused the puffiness in your eyes then you must drink plenty of water to rehydrate your body.
When you cry you loose moisture from your skin and in order to control the puffiness in your eyes you must maintain your hydration levels. Drinking water and fresh fruit juices will help to control your hydration levels and increase the amount of moisture in your skin. Using tea bags is also a very effective home remedy. When you boil your pot of tea in the morning don’t discard the tea bas; instead place them in the freezer.
Put them on your eyes for a few minutes until the area under your eyes feels numb; this numb sensation helps to get rid of the puffiness in the eyes. Green tea bags are most effective as the anti oxidants from the tea helps to nourish your skin and reduce the puffiness. If you use cold cream daily at night then you must keep the cream in the refrigerator.
The cold compress reduces the puffiness in the eye region. Cold cucumber slices or potato slices are also very effective in reducing puffiness in the region under the eyes. In order to avoid puffiness in the eyes you must sleep with your head elevated. This increases the blood circulation and prevents the puffiness in the eyes.
You must also ensure that you get enough sleep; lack of sleep contributes largely to the puffiness in your eyes. You must aim to sleep 6 to 7 hours daily and reduce your intake of caffeine, salt and alcohol.
