Water and milk work wonders for your teeth, but we rarely choose these beverages when we are thirsty. A coke or an aerated beverage is normally the first choice. The acids in the beverage deposits on the tooth enamel and melt the layers of the tooth. Ice is not a friend of your teeth either. A lot of people have a tendency to chew ice when they are stressed or bored. The ice cubes cause tiny cracks on the tooth and cause tremendous strain on the tooth eventually leading to it breaking or getting weak from the root. Too much fluoride is harmful to your teeth as well. You must speak with your dentist about the recommended amount of fluoride that you require and use it in the right proportions.

If you experience any pain or bleeding from your teeth or gums when you rinse your mouth or when you brush your teeth you must inform your dentist immediately. Bleeding teeth can be cured with home remedies; however it may also be a symptom of another illness and your dentist will be the best person to diagnose it. If you suffer from mouth ulcers then you must see a doctor immediately as it may lead to puss formation in the mouth.

You must brush and floss your teeth 2 to 3 times a day in order to keep your teeth healthy. The foods that you eat deposits themselves on your teeth in small portions and even these portions are dangerous as they cause tooth decay. You must rinse your mouth after every meal and snack. This reduces the possibility of cavities; tooth decays and strengthens your teeth.

In order to reduce the build up of plaque you must floss your teeth regularly. Flossing your teeth in the night before going to bed helps to eliminate the food particles that are hidden in between your teeth and prevent the build up of plaque. Flossing in the morning improve the freshness of your breath. If you are not able to brush your teeth or floss after every meal then you must use a mouthwash to rinse your mouth and refresh your breath and get rid of the bacteria in your mouth.
