April 22, 2009

In today’s fashion crazy world every one you know and talk to is trying to loose weight or is on a diet. The key to loosing weight is not to starving yourself but to eating healthy and eating foods that help to increase your metabolism.

To increase your metabolism, you need to eat foods that are healthy and provide you a well balanced diet. Eat a healthy breakfast every morning; it helps to keep you craving foods throughout the day. Have a bowl of milk and cereal with some juice. Add an egg as well as a few slices of toasted bread for a wholesome meal. Oatmeal is a good option as well as it is high in nutrients and fiber. It boosts your metabolism and gives you the energy that you need for a few hours to begin your day.

Eat several portions of foods throughout the day. For lunch and dinner choose a bowl of soup or a salad to start with, follow with a sandwich in whole wheat bread and a cup of green tea. The tea is known to increase your metabolism rate and hence it is recommended to drink a cup while you are having your meals or immediately after. This is especially true for those who are on a diet. Eating lean meats like chicken and turkey are known to increase your metabolism. Red, yellow and green peppers are known to increase your metabolic rate. So does spicy foods, notice how they make you sweat when you are eating them. This is the external reaction to the foods, while on the inside your body is burning all the food it intakes.

Dairy products like milk, buttermilk and yogurt are known to have a positive effect on activating your metabolic rate. Increase your intake of dairy through the day but avoid it at night as it may cause acidity
