How to Keep Kidneys Safe

Size of the kidneys is not large but their function is definitely larger. Kidneys filter out the waste materials and unwanted liquids from the blood. Thus, kidneys play a major role to maintain our overall health. If our kidneys stop functioning properly, there will be severe health problems. Our blood will get polluted due to lack of filtration process and gradually we will become victim of kidney failure.

This is a worse situation as a person with failed kidney needs kidney transplant or dialysis to live. Chronic kidney disease is the early-stage of kidney failure and hence we must be careful to keep away from chronic kidney ailments.

Prevention of Kidney Disorders
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and few routine activities like the following tips can help the kidneys to stay strong.

Increase Water Consumption
Take a note of how many glasses of water you drink everyday. It is always healthy to drink at least eight to ten glasses of water daily. Water flushes out toxins and if you drink more water, it helps the kidneys to filter and remove unwanted materials from the body. Drink lots and lots of pure water and help your kidneys to function properly.

Regular Breaks
No matter whether you are working under tremendous pressure, do make it a point to take frequent breaks. Do not sit continuously at the same position for more than one hour. Stand up, take a small walk for a minute and again come back to your work. Do some stretching while you are on a break to help your kidneys and entire body.

Don’t Delay Nature Calls
Whenever you experience nature calls, whether it is for bowel movement or urination, do not holdup. If you wait for few minutes to finish off your “important work” then you are allowing your kidneys to reabsorb the toxins that need to be removed from your body. Doing this regularly means you are damaging your kidneys.

It is essential to understand the symptoms of kidney disorders and rush to doctor immediately. If the disorder is detected early, then it can be easily cured. Some of the common symptoms of kidney disorders are unable to hold urination; frequent urination; discharge of blood with urine; pain during urination; bulge around feet, ankles, eyes and even face; and fever.
