It’s very embarrassing to scratch head continuously in public. When one feels continuous itching in head that is out of bound of one’s toleration limit, then scratching head provides a temporary relief. Itching of head can be due to various reasons. But having lice in the head is one of the greatest causes. Improper cleaning of head and hair leads to the problem of head lice. These parasites grow if head is not washed properly. Using good quality, herbal based shampoo on a regular basis keeps this problem away.

Head lice are the parasite found in the hairs of the human beings. It feed on the blood drawn from the scalp of the head. Lice do not cause any disease and neither act as a vector to spread any disease.  But lice causes unhygienic scalp and is spread to other people through head to head contact.

Many home remedies are available for removal of head lice. First step is to maintain the clean and hygienic hair. Washing hair twice or thrice in a week is a must. Hairs can be washed with vinegar. Vinegar is acidic in nature. It will help in killing the eggs of lice also called nits in few days if used regularly and properly. Other useful remedy includes massaging the head with coconut after shampooing and conditioning the hairs.

Take some drops of tea tree oil and mix it into the shampoo. Use it daily till you get relief from the lice. Listerine mouth wash is also a useful home remedy for lice treatment. Using Listerine on the scalp daily can kill all the lice. Applying mayonnaise in each strand of hairs properly gives good results by killing both lice and its nits. Another home remedy can be using a mixture of lemon and butter on the head and then waiting for some time before washing it with water. Avoid sharing your personal belongings like towel, comb and clothes with the lice infected person.
