How to Keep Water Borne Diseases at Bay

If you have contracted a water borne disease then you only have yourself to blame. Consuming contaminated water is one of the topmost reasons why you would contract a disease like typhoid, cholera, diphtheria and hepatitis. In some cases you may not have control over the water that is supplied to your house and it is in these instances that you need to take precautions to distill the water that you are consuming.

The most important thing to do is to make sure that you do not eat food from a place that does not have a restaurant license. These places are the ones that are least bothered about hygiene or your safety.

Always boil the water that you drink or use to cook your food in. You must also be aware of the fruits and vegetables that you eat raw. You may wash the fruits but there are a few drops of water on them when you eat them and even this can cause havoc in your system. After you wash the food you must dry them with a kitchen towel or keep them on a piece of paper so that they can dry themselves out.

Avoid eating a raw fruit salad or a salad for that matter at any restaurant. Avoid a vegetable sandwich too as the vegetables may have a few drops of the contaminated water on them. You must be particularly careful when the seasons change and during the cooler moths of the year. These are months when condensation is the highest and you are most likely to contract a disease at this time. Be careful about your yogurt consumption as well.

You must make sure that you drink plenty boiled water. Use filters on your kitchen taps so that you eliminate the risk of bacteria when you are washing your foods as well. You must also take care while washing your utensils. Wipe your utensils dry rather than air drying them.

Always carry a bottle of water with you when you go out; this prevents you from grabbing a bottle of water from a place that may not be too hygienic. You are also assured of the fact that the water that you are drinking is safe.
