How to Keep Your Body Healthy and Strong during Winter
October 26, 2009
Winter is a wonderful season, yet it is the time when most people fall ill due to extreme climatic changes. The best way to stay fit during this season is to stay active. During this season you also need to make sure that you bundle up in order to keep yourself warm. Wearing layers is helpful on days when it’s extremely cold or windy.
When you opt for exercise during this season you need to first choose between exercising indoors or outdoors. If you choose the latter then you need to cover yourself well; especially your mouth and nose. This will prevent the cold air from entering your lungs. You will also be able to control your body temperature when you exercise.
Though drinking water may be the last thing on your mind you need to make sure that you maintain your hydration levels. This will help you to regulate your body temperature. Though you may be tempted to drink hot chocolate or apple cider you must drink enough water to keep your hydration levels high.
In order to stay fit and healthy you must also avoid contact with all those who are infected with flu and cold. This will help you to prevent getting the infection. In this way you ensure that your immune system is strong and free from infection. Make sure that you keep your hands clean and wash them frequently. This ensures that you are safe from contracting any viruses. Wash your hands every time you touch any object like door knobs, desks or stationary that is shared with anyone else.
Winter sports are a good way to get some exercise. My favorite is building a snow man. This helps to get plenty of exercise; though you may not be aware of it. Can you imagine the amount of exercise you get lifting all the snow and lugging it around? This activity gives you the benefits of walking as well as lifting weights.
Dancing is a popular activity during this season due to the holidays and you must indulge in this activity as much as you can. It gives you the benefits of a cardio workout; thus helping to keep your heart strong and keeping you fit.
