How To Keep Your Skin Soft And Moisturized

November 19, 2009

Skin that is dry and flaky looks unhealthy and causes irritation and itching. Not only does it look unattractive it also feels frustrating. In order to look and feel attractive you must a clear complexion with naturally radiant skin. Following a daily skin care routine is important. I have extremely oily skin and when I was a teenager I was under the impression that I did not need to moisturize my skin since it was already being nourished with natural oils.

It was only later that I realized that I was wrong. No matter what skin type you may be you need to moisturize your skin regularly in order to keep in healthy. Keeping your skin soft also delays the aging process and hence I strongly recommend it. It is not a difficult task to moisturize your skin; you can achieve beautiful and healthy skin in the comfort of your home.

You need not invest in the most expensive products in order to get the best results. The key is to apply your products at the right time and in the right manner. In order to make the most of your moisturizer you must slather a generous amount of the product all over your body immediately after a bath. The pores on your skin are open after a bath and are able to absorb the richness of the product. The cream also spreads evenly and more efficiently when the skin is moist as compared to when it is dry.

If using cosmetics or over the counter products do not give you the results you desire then you must use home treatments. These are effective as you can use the products in the proportion that you desire. Olive oil is one of the most effective home treatments when you are attempting to moisturize dry skin. Mix equal parts of sugar and oil and massage it into your skin all over your body focusing on dry areas like your face, knees, elbows and back. Use the tips of your fingers and apply pressure and move in circles around your skin. This will increase the blood circulation and eliminates dead skin cells; this treatment enhances your complexion and also moisturizes your skin.

A milk bath is a great way to pamper your skin and give it a moisture boost. Add a few cups of milk to your bathwater and soak in it for a few minutes. You could also massage your face with milk cream or fat. The proteins from the milk give your skin a healthy glow and keep it moisturized and healthy looking.

You can use these home treatments on any skin type but when you are using over the counter products ensure that you purchase the kinds that suit your skin type.
