After I was diagnosed with a heart disease I lead a life of caution as if every breath is took was my last. Within a month of living like this is got tired and was about to give up until a friend gave me the kind of advice that changed my life. It was not what I ate that mattered but my outlook to life that would ensure that I live long and healthy.
It takes a few days for you to come to terms with the fact that you are suffering with a heart condition. The impact of the doctor’s diagnosis along with the advice from friends and loved ones can cause you a lot of anxiety. Once initial impact is dealt with you need to start making a few changes in your lifestyle in order to improve your condition. Do not make drastic changes immediately. Start with tiny changes and build your way up.
One simple thing that you can do is start with an exercise routine. This means that you need to indulge in some form of physical activity that you can perform daily. You can choose your favorite sport or look at trying your hand at something new. If you are not interested in sports then you can always look at walking for a few minutes daily. The worst thing that you do to yourself is lie in bed and relax. You need to live an active life in order to be able to digest the foods that you eat and process all the nutrients and minerals in your body.
You may want to also make a few dietary changes and avoid eating foods that are high in fats or those that will increase your cholesterol count. In addition to this you must take your medication religiously. Eat foods that are low in sodium too. This will ensure that your ticker ticks the way it needs to. Some medications may have slight side effects and thus you may avoid taking them; this is the most dangerous thing as it can have long term side effects.
