Fish like salmon and mackerels are high in omega 3 fatty acids that help to reduce the ad cholesterol count. Do not consume them in a deep fried preparation as the oils used will negate the benefits that the fish provide. The same can be said for walnuts and almonds. These nuts have maximum benefits when you eat them roasted and added to salads or eaten with breakfast cereal. They make a healthy snack as well.
Apples have healing powers as well when it comes to lowering your cholesterol. Grab an apple everyday or a glass or two of apple juice will do the trick as well.
Try adding citrus fruits and green vegetables to your diet for a healthy meal. Start your day with a green salad and keep your day packed with fruits and vegetables for maximum results. Stay clear of red meats if you are looking at lowering your cholesterol count.
Add garlic to your gravies and soups. You can choose to add the entire garlic or the paste; either way you must eat garlic in some form three times a week to lower the cholesterol count in your system.
