How to Manage Stress Effectively

While most of our lives revolve around stress, it is important for us to understand what the stressors in our lives are and eliminate them effectively. Prolonged stress can lead to a mental breakdown and hence it is important to achieve that peace by all means possible. Some people float towards vices like smoking and alcohol others adopt behaviors like zoning out in front of the television or computer, binging on food, procrastinating and over sleeping.

There are simple yet effective ways to take care of this stress. You must learn to say ‘ no’ when the situation demands it. Often we are stressed out about assignments and deadlines. This is no necessarily work related. Pressure at home, handling the family along with household chores and a job can cause you to get stressed out. Mounting bills, debt and mortgages are the biggest reason for stress in our times.

Avoid people and situations that cause stress. If for example a certain person causes stress in your life cut them out from tour life completely. Ex partners, family and colleagues fall into this category.

Choose to set your own priorities. Do not let your life be dictated by others. Set your own goals, targets and work at your own pace to achieve them.

If you are unable to get rid of a problem then try and find a solution or a diversion to it. Try different options till you reach a solution that suits your needs the best. Do not take no for an answer however always remember to look at the larger picture and focus on the positive. You will be able to work mutually with the environment if you embrace what it throws at you.

Herbal remedies to manage stress

Avoid drinking caffeine as it tends to make you hyper active. This is not what you want to do when you are stressed out. Drink herbal teas instead. They calm your nerves and avoid high blood pressure.

Use lavender oils in your bath water. It causes a calming sensation and relaxes your senses.
