Dieting is such a drag. You sit around with a list of foods that you are forbidden from eating and chances are that they are all your favorites. You are constantly tempted to indulge and food is the one thing that is constantly on your mind. You seem to see food all around you. If all what I have said seems familiar then you need to read further.

When you are dieting you need not loose out on all the goodies, you just need to reduce the portions that you indulge in and include a few nutritious items in your diet. You can also play with the way you prepare your food to make it more appealing to your senses. You need not stop eating a certain food completely; you can give yourself a treat once in a while. In this way you motivate yourself to comply with the rules that you set for yourself.

When you are on a diet you need to eat plenty of whole grains and protein rich foods to maintain your energy levels. This means that you are allowed wheat and fish along with egg whites. Avoiding pastas and rice will be beneficial as they add to the calories but have no nutritional value. While you are eating all these foods; what happens to all the sugar rich foods and carbohydrates that are stocked up in your pantry?

Well, there is a simple remedy for that. Stock up all the sugary delights and fried foods in a cupboard in the pantry that is out of reach. You could also store this type of food in a place that is far away so that you are not tempted every time you enter the kitchen. Stock the refrigerator with healthy snacks and delights so that you are able to satisfy your hunger. Remember, dieting does not mean starving yourself. You need to eat the right foods in the right proportions.

Most of us can’t start our day without a caffeine kick. In order to maintain your diet rules you must reduce the amount of coffee that you indulge in daily. Swap your cups of coffee with water. Remind yourself of the dehydrating properties of water and you will automatically levitate towards other drink options.

If you have a sudden craving for sugar you can’t do anything but satisfy it. It will not go away so the best way to take care of it is to indulge. The simple trick is to avoid refined sugar. You may snack on a fruit like a banana or have a spoon of honey. Along with giving your body the sugary boost that it craves it also adds to your nutrition.
