How to Overpower Insomnia Naturally and Tactfully

Once in a while everyone goes through an occasional sleepless night. This could be due to many reasons such as everyday stress, work pressure, family related issues, and major decisions involving change or due to consuming caffeine too late in the day. All these factors and others could all contribute towards insomnia. If your having a sleepless night and suffering from insomnia then there are a few things that you can follow to help you overcome it and maybe even fall asleep in the due course of time.

If your laying in bed and trying to force yourself to go to sleep then get out of bed. Trying to force yourself to sleep is no going to help you in any way but only make you feel more stressed out. Try some light reading or perform some light house work to help your body exercise and tire itself out and once you start feeling sleepy go back to bed. If you’re stressed or agitated then you could try some relaxation exercises like deep breathing to help calm your self down.

If exercising in the middle of the night is not your cup of tea then you could try listening to some soft soothing music to calm your nerves. Listening to meditation tapes also helps relieve your stress. You would need to experiment and find out what works for you.

You could also take a hot bath with aromatherapy soaps to help calm yourself. Light a few candles before getting into your bath and dim the lights. Bright lights would cause you to be more alert. There are also a few herbal remedies available which help to induce sleep. Chamomile, valerian, catnip, lime flower. Lavender and similar herbal remedies can be taken in the form of capsules or in tea and have a very soothing effect on the body.

Have a heavy meal before bed but ensure that your not feeling bloated before going to bed.
