I don’t know of a single person who hasn’t cheated on a diet. From sipping on beverages that are less than healthy to quitting a diet mid way, we all have lost our patience with diets and their slow effects. We have such busy schedules that we slip in convenient food and fast food so often that it has become a part of our regular diet and we are not ashamed about it. Binging on these foods prevent us from giving our body the required nutrients and minerals.

If you eat a diet that is rich in sugar and salt and low in fruits, vegetables and whole grains then you will find yourself feeling sluggish and low on energy. Your body will not feel deprived of food but you will definitely feel inadequate and undernourished though your stomach will be full. Nutrition is complex and you must avoid eating foods that are low in nutrition; normally these foods are high in calories. If you are suffering from mood swings or are particularly depressed then you have a tendency to grab a snack that is high in carbohydrates or fats. On the other hand; diets that are extremely low in carbohydrates and fats can make you moody.

When you are planning a diet to aid depression you must first start with drinking plenty of water. If your body is well hydrated then your chances of being low on energy and getting depressed as a result of this is almost zero. You must eat a diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables. Eat these fresh so that you benefit from all the nutrients that they have to offer. You must also eat a lot of whole grains like oats, rice, wheat and pasta. These foods help to satiate your hunger. You must eat regular meals as they help to keep your blood sugar levels in check and reduce the possibility of mood swings. You must avoid eating foods that are high in refined sugar. If you are a person who skips breakfast then you must start eating breakfast regularly. Eat three big meals during the day and eat plenty of snacks during the day as well.
