All of us enjoy summer sun. From the very childhood, we have learned that summer means, lots of outings and fun in the sun. But now, times have changed, and we have come to know about the harmful rays of the sun, the UVA and UVB.

It has become vital for us to protect the skin from these rays and using sunscreen is the only option. The sunscreen products that are available in the market and stores are made of chemical components. It is not at all good for our skin and health. Home-made natural sunscreen not only protects the skin from the burning rays of the sun, but it is also healthy for our skin and has no side effects.

Here are some tips to make natural sunscreen at home that will provide excellent skin benefits.

Ingredients: Distilled water, lavender and spearmint and peppermint oil.

Method: One has to take 4 fluid ounce of distilled water and add 10-12 drops of lavender to it. After that, add 3-4 drops each of spearmint and peppermint oil drops into the mixture and shake well. A uniform mixture is thus made and this has to be reserved in an airtight clean jar and then refrigerate. This is a helpful natural sunscreen that is good for the skin and health of the individuals.

Ingredients: 1 cup of olive oil / other natural oil, 1 ounce of pure beeswax, 2 tbsp of pure zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.

Method: One has to heat a cup of olive oil in a pan over the low flame. When the oil has been heated up a bit, 1 ounce of crumbled beeswax has to be added to it and stirred continuously until the beeswax has completely melted. Even after the beeswax has been melted completely in the oil, the stirring has to be continued and titanium dioxide or zinc oxide has to be added to it slowly. After that, the mixture has to be poured into a glass of a ceramic container that has a cover. The mixture is ready for application after it has cooled down.

Precautions: Neither the powdered zinc oxide nor the titanium dioxide be breathed into as it is harmful to the health. Avoid making food with that pan, spoon and utensils and try to keep using these items dedicated for this purpose only. Again, one has to be careful and find out that the oxide has not settled while cooling. If the mixture looks translucent, the oxide needs to be stirred so as to give it opaque color.
