IBS is commonly known as Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It is a very common ailment and one which has no cure. Yet, there are ways to prevent the symptoms with a few home and herbal remedies. If you are able to control the factors that lead to IBS then you have won half of the battle.
One of the main causes of IBS is stress. You must ensure that you control stress in order to prevent it from affecting other areas of your life. High levels of stress lead to IBS and diarrhea.
Another common reason that people suffer from constipation and irregular bowel movements is lack of fiber in their diets. A fiber rich diet ensures that you have regular bowel movements and that you do not get constipated. If you are not able to get enough fiber in your diet from your food then you must acquire it from supplements.
Dehydration can also lead to constipation. In order to prevent this; the most obvious thing is to increase the amount of water that you drink. Start the day with a glass of warm water. You may add honey and lemon to it if you wish; however it is not necessary. Water will suffice. You may also drink plenty of carrot juice, tomato juice and cranberry juice. These are fiber rich juices that also increase the amount of water in your system.
Avoid eating large meals. Smaller meals will prevent gas, acidity and bloating. Also avoid over eating at any meal – no matter how delicious the food may be. Eat 5 to 6 meals a day and include plenty of fruit in your meals.
You must also ensure that you are active. This ensures that your body is able to process the food that you have eaten and ensures that you have regular bowel movements.
You must also take care to avoid eating foods that cause bloating and gas. Foods like diary products, artificial foods and carbonated drinks are the main factors that cause gas. Also vegetables like cauliflower, lettuce and broccoli cause gas and you must avoid them as far as possible.
