Chafing is caused when the skin touches and there is friction in the region. Your thighs are most prone to chafing and there are a few preventive and curative measures that I have tried that will work for you as well.

Chances are very high that you are over weight. Chafing normally happens in the inner thigh when you are over weight. If this is the case then you must try and shed the excess pounds. Other preventive measures include using cotton clothes and avoiding synthetic fibers. When you are walking, exercising or playing any sport you must use only cotton clothing. You must also ensure that your clothes are clean. Wash your clothes daily in order to prevent dirt and germs from thriving on the clothes. Wash your gym clothes in warm water in order to ensure that all the germs are taken care off.

In order to prevent chaffing use powder on the area in between your thighs. You could use talcum powder or corn starch; they are both equally effective. If the under arms area is prone to chafing then you must avoid using deodorants and perfumes as it may aggravate your condition. Powder is a good solution; it also absorbs the sweat that leads to the chafing.

Petroleum jelly works well to add moisture to the area as well as lubricate it. Use it on any parts of your body that are prone to chaffing. You can also use Aloe Vera gel and vitamin E oils on the affected area. They help in the speedy recovery of the rash. You can also make a home made treatment by mixing equal parts of Vitamin E and Vitamin A oil in equal parts of Vaseline. This helps to add moisture to the skin; aids healing and avoids pigmentation in the bargain.

You must also use loose clothing – the kinds that let your skin breathe and let the moisture from your skin evaporate in order to heal the chafing immediately.
