How to Prevent and Treat Toxic Shock Syndrome
This is an illness that is caused by bacteria in the vagina of a woman. It is caused when the bacteria in the vagina flow though the blood stream during menstruation. The most common cause of the illness is a tampon.
Preventive measures
In order to prevent this one must avoid the use of a tampon and use a sanitary pad whenever possible. If you must use a tampon then avoid using the super absorbent kinds as they are the ones that are known to spread the infection. These rub against the vaginal walls and cause irritation and scratch the walls of the vagina causing cuts and tears that lead to the growth of bacteria in the area. Change your tampon every 4 to 5 hours, the same must be said for the use of sanitary pads. For overnight use a sanitary pad is a safer bet compared to a tampon.
Treatment
Certain herbs are effective in the treatment of Toxic Shock Syndrome and prolonged use is known to be effective in the cure as well. These herbs help to improve the health of the immune system and can be taken in the natural form or in supplements. They help to fight bacterial and viral infections.
If you are suffering from an infection, then consuming huge doses of garlic help to ease the irritation. Garlic helps to purify the body and is used as a natural anti biotic to aid or stop the infection.
Use tea tree oil to wash the area. Use a soap that has tea tree oil as one of its main ingredients or simply use it in the oil form diluted with water and rinse the vaginal area to ease the discomfort.
Red clover is another effective herb. It can be consumed in the liquid state by dissolving it in water or use it in the supplement form to help to cure the infection. The best way to ease the discomfort is to use this herb 2 to 3 times a day. You will feel instant relief from the irritation. Red clover tea is also effective to ease the discomfort of menstruation.
