How to Prevent Ingrown Hair While Shaving

May 18, 2009

Most men shave daily. While some look at it as an art there are others that do it as a routine just to look clean and hygienic. Either ways doing anything wrong can lead you to ingrown hair on your face. These look like black spots on your face under the top most layer of the skin.

Most boys learn to shave from elder brothers, fathers or just try their luck the first time and learn from their mistakes and take things further from there on. There are a few things that you must keep in mind before you shave to prevent ingrown hair.

Firstly, you must wash your face well before you start shaving. Use a good face wash and lather up your face and then wash it well. Pat your face dry with a clean towel.

The next step is to exfoliate your skin with a good face scrub. This helps to get rid of dead skin cells on your face and opens your pores thereby letting any previous in growths to be visible.

When you begin shaving you must first lather up the shaving cream on your face and then use a sterilized razor on your skin. Always use a sharp blade as opposed to a blunt one as the latter will have you stroking the same region several times and puts you at risk of nicks and cuts on your tender skin. A blunt blade also makes the skin on your face rough.

Always shave in the direction of the hair to prevent the hair from growing thicker and faster.

After you have finished getting rid of the hair you must wash your face again with a face wash and cold water and dry your skin. After that you can dab on some after shave lotion to help to close the open pores on your face.

Finish the process by using a moisturizing lotion and rubbing it on your skin in circular motions.
