How to Prevent Pelvic Inflammatory Disease

Pelvic inflammatory disease is a serious infection of internal female reproductive system. It is a major cause of female infertility in most of the cases. The pelvic inflammatory disorders may include parts like fallopian tubes, the cervix, uterine lining, ovaries, the tissues surrounding the uterus etc. The disease is caused by a viral infection. Sexual intercourse with a infected partner can be a reason for viral infection. Sometimes viral attack may happen after child birth, during abortion or a miscarriage.

In some cases it becomes very difficult to find out the cause of the infection. Infection may lead to pain if not treated in time and in some cases it may lead to infertility. The infected areas get inflamed and tender. The other major symptoms of pelvic inflammatory disease include painful and irregular periods, bleeding between periods, backache, abnormal vaginal discharge, mild fever, nausea and vomiting.

Sexual relationship with healthy partner is an easy way to prevent pelvic inflammatory disease. However use of condom may also be helpful in preventing the viral infection. In case of abdominal pain, take hot water in a bottle, cover it with towel and put it against your abdomen. This will increase blood circulation in the affected area and hence will reduce the symptoms. You can also take a warm bath as an alternative.

A natural way to avoid viral infection is to strengthen your immune system. A strong immune system is the best protection against viral infection. You should take diet containing vitamin C, B, A, D, E, zinc and other necessary nutrients. Avoid taking unhealthy food and keep your body well hydrated by taking plenty of fluids everyday.

Echinacea is very helpful in increase strength of immune system. Hence consumption of Echinacea is very effective in preventing pelvic inflammatory disease. Herbal tea made from chamomile and hyssop is also very helpful in avoid this disease. They are also helpful in providing quick relief from pain.
