SAD is the acronym for Seasonal Affective Disorder. With the change of seasons you will notice yourself getting melancholy. Winter blues bring with it feelings of hopelessness, depression and anxiety. 20 percent of our population suffers from SAD and this is a serious disorder that needs some care in order to prevent and cure.

If you feel low and negative and this hampers the activities of your day then you try to understand the root cause of these feelings. Acknowledging your feelings will help you to cure them and move on and out of this condition. Commit to the tasks you have set out for the day and move on forward committing yourself to those tasks.

Avoid focusing on the negative thoughts that flow into your mind and focus on the positives. Try to change every negative into a positive and you will notice a bounce in your step immediately. Reading positive literature, watching a comedy movie or practicing yoga will help you to focus on the positives and let go of all negative aspects in your life.

The worst thing you could do is isolate yourself when you are feeling depressed. You need to make social connections and interact with people at this point in your life. Social networking sites are not the answer at this point. You need to go out and meet up with friends or acquaintances or make new connections.

Listen to music that adds a beat to your step. This keeps your body active and reduces negativity and negative feelings completely. Energizing music is the answer to your blues. You can dance to the music or workout or do your aerobics workout to the tune of some thumping music in order to get rid of negativity in your life. Reading a book that is of interest to you is a good way to move on from negativity and feeling low.

Get a massage. Touch therapy works wonders on your mind and body and adds a lot of positivity in your step. Getting a body massage or a foot massage helps to increase the blood circulation on your body and this in turn increases the feel good hormones that increase positive feelings.
