Swine flu is causing pain in the world today. It is a risk to everyone; however pregnant women are more at risk as their immune system is naturally suppressed. If they do catch swine flu then there are chances that they will have complications during their pregnancies and that the baby will get affected. When a woman contracts the virus she will pass it on to the fetus via the placenta and the bodily fluids. Thus pregnant women must take additional precautions when they venture out of the house.
As far as possible avoid traveling in public transport and if you do then make sure that you are wearing a protective mask that will help to prevent germs from entering into your body when you breathe. Wash your hand after you have touched any public place; this would involve bus handles, toilet doors and desks. Use an alcohol based cleansing gel if you cannot wash your hand with soap and water. Wash your hands before you eat and before you touch your face.
You must avoid contact with any person who is sick. If someone in the house has a fever however slight it may be; make sure that you avoid contact with this person. Avoid public places like malls and theatres as you are bound to come in contact with a few hundred germs out there. You are also more tempted to eat at these places and this must be avoided completely.
Make sure that the children in the house wash their hands after they come home from school. Wash their uniforms daily. Soak them in warm water with some detergent to kill any germs that may be on their clothes. The same must be done for the clothes that they wear to the play ground.
If you must meet someone who has travelled, wait for a week or so before you can meet them so that you avoid contracting any germs.
In addition to the above you must eat a healthy diet. Herbs and spices will help to kill any germs. You must also make sure that you drink plenty of fluids. Eat foods that you prepare at home and make sure that you wash all fruits and vegetables well before you process them.
