The sun is known to be the giver of life and yet it can cause havoc in your life as well. While doctors recommend sun baths for babies care must be taken to avoid over exposure.

The summer months require you to wear lighter clothing and it is in this season that you need to take most care and protect yourself. When ever you move out into the sun use a sun block lotion. Choose one with a natural base like Aloe Vera or cucumber as they are cooling. Avoid perfumed lotions, creams and gels as the fragrances may cause your skin to burn or attract sunlight.

You will tend to perspire in this season and loose a lot of water from your body in the bargain. You must refill that water in order to avoid dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids like water, orange juice and sports drinks. The later contain electrodes that help to retain moisture in your body.

Avoid the sun as far as possible from 11 am to 3 pm as it is at its scorching peak at this time. If you must go out then use a wide hat to protect your head from the heat and avoid a heat stroke. Use sunglasses to protect your eyes. If you wear prescription glasses then have UV films incorporated in them to give you protection.

Avoid wearing tight fitting clothes and darker colored clothes. Tight fitting clothes will make you uncomfortable while dark clothes will attract heat. Avoid wearing synthetic fabrics as they tend to itch as you perspire. Choose cotton fabrics.

Avoid going to the beach and avoid getting a sun tan at all costs. The heat that you will be exposed to at the beach can cause a sun stroke or in severe cases dehydration that can cause death.
